Travelling to Morocco is a wonderful experience, and there are a lot of cool things you can buy there before going back home.

The North African country is one of the places you must visit at least once in a lifetime. And it’s not only because of its bewildering tourist attractions but also because of its gifted artisans.

These artisans have turned the country that recently made Africa proud at the just-ended World Cup into a shopping paradise for traditional products.

If you’re finding it hard to decide what to purchase in Morocco, don’t worry because this article is for you. Without further ado, let’s look at six cool things you can buy in Morocco.

1. Leather Goods

If you are a lover of medieval style, don’t forget to buy leather goods in Morocco. These goods are always in the best condition because the leather is made in a traditional way.

Fez is the Moroccan city famous when it comes to leather goods because it has a long tradition of tanning and dyeing.

You can get leather slippers, jackets, bags, wallets, belts and even more.

2. Ceramics

Nearly every article about Morocco contains pictures of shops with colourful and unique ceramics. This is because the North African country is famous for its distinguishable ceramics and pottery.

Shops and markets in Morocco are swamped with beautiful bowls and plates of intricate designs and patterns. You just have to choose the ones that you like.

Ceramics are among the cool things to buy in Morocco before travelling back to your country. The famous cities for potteries are Safi, Fez and Meknes.

3. Argan Oil

Argan oil is one of the coolest things to buy in Morocco. The oil, which has become very famous and popular in recent years, is produced by cooperatives of women.

Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the argan tree and is most commonly used as a moisturizer.

Apart from being a known miracle hair product, argan also has a high concentration of vitamins, which makes it effective at boosting the immune system.

You’ll find argan oil being sold at markets or roadsides in most parts of the country. Buying the oil in Morocco is cheaper compared to online or in other countries.

4. Berber Carpets and Rugs

Moroccan Berber carpets and rugs are unique and have a fascinating history. Be sure to grab at least one from the rich colours, tribal designs and alluring textures before travelling home.

Ensure the carpet you have chosen does not leave your sight during packaging because some salesmen decide to pack a different one.

5. Babouches

Babouche is a French word used to describe a flat Moroccan slipper so soft that you can flatten the part that covers your heel.

You definitely don’t want to leave Morocco without spices. This is your opportunity to take the flavours of Morocco back home and use them to prepare delicious meals for your family.
