If you travelled to the second largest continent in the world, chances are you enjoyed the services of the best airlines in Africa 2022.

In what is known as the “Oscars of airlines,” UK-based Skytrax revealed the highly anticipated 2022 World Airline Awards. More usual travel times and pandemic travel are included in the awards, based on customer surveys collected from September 2019 to July 2022.

While the pandemic shifted certain airline positions from 2019 onwards, few of the industry’s key carriers retained their upper places.

The Passenger’s Choice Awards gave the findings. It is a poll conducted by over 13 million travelers worldwide. It ranks several parts of the customer experience, including cabin service, COVID-19 response, ground/airport services, and the onboard product, on a scale of one to five.

Ethiopian Airlines

National carrier Ethiopian Airlines is situated in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. More than 60 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America are serviced by Ethiopian Airlines.

It also services a significant local and international cargo network. Ethiopian Airlines joined the Star Alliance in December 2011 as a member airline. It positioned itself among the best airlines in Africa 2022.

South African Airways

South African Airways (SAA) is the national carrier of South Africa and one of the continent’s largest airlines. It hubs is in Johannesburg and Cape Town – not to mention ranks second among the best airlines in Africa 2022.

The South African government owns 100 percent of the carrier, which has a wide range of domestic and international service options. It includes flights to North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. In 2006, SAA joined the Star Alliance.
