Located 45 kilometres before al-Farafra Oasis in The New Valley Governorate, the White Desert is one of the hidden gems in Egypt. It is named so because it is closer to the shape of white sand, thanks to its strange chalk rock formations. It has white colour that covers most of its swings.

The White Desert is the place to go after an epic safari in Kenya or Tanzania, or after spending a few days in some of the best beaches in Egypt. The atmosphere of the place is cool and is an ideal destination boasting picturesque nature.

2.The Tombs of the Nobles

Often overlooked by tourists, the Tombs of the Nobles is one of the unique places to visit in Egypt. Tucked on the west bank of River Nile, the site dates back to the Old and Middle Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt. The tombs here are of  governors, administrators, and noblemen who existed in Ancient Egypt.

The tombs have elegant halls, pillared rooms, and generally look amazing. Despite being less touristy, you will need a tour guide to explore the Tombs of the Nobles since there are so many different tombs there. Nevertheless, it is a perfect alternative to the Valley of the Kings, which receives a large number of tourists every year.

3. The Lost City of Heracleion

Appearing in a few ancient texts, the city of Thonis-Heracleion was hidden away for thousands of years. It was submerged deep under the sea and was discovered by French archaeologist Franck Goddio and his team after years of searching.

Thonis-Heracleion completely submerged 6.5 kilometres off Alexandria’s coast. Statues standing at 16 feet, the remains of a massive temple, 64 ships, 700 anchors and a treasure trove of gold coins are among things discovered in the underwater ruins. This is one of the unique places to visit before leaving Egypt in your next trip.
