His return to East Africa comes nearly a year after the release of his fourth studio album ‘Timeless’ which has enjoyed huge commercial success. It debuted at position 37 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 17,000 units in its first week after release. It then rose to position 10 on the UK Albums Chart, making it the second Nigerian album to ever debut in the top 10.

This will be the third time that Davido will be performing in Kenya since he debuted his music career in 2011. He last performed in Kenya in 2018 at the 30 Billion World Tour Concert and hasn’t returned in six years. In reference to his comeback to Kenya, the Nigerian singer expressed his excitement at the prospect of performing once more in Nairobi after an extended absence.
“I am thrilled to be returning to Kenya after a long absence, and this time I will be performing at Africa’s biggest festival. Kenya holds a special place in my heart, and I have always been inspired by its vibrant culture and social life,” he remarked.

Lugogo Cricket Oval will host Davido for the Timeless Concert in Kampala on March 29. He will grace Ugandan airwaves with charming tunes from his fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’ which the Kampala concert is named after. The 17-track album explores different sounds ranging from dancehall, raga, Konto, highlife, and Afropop.
The ‘Timeless Concert Kampala’ will be Davido’s fourth appearance in Kampala in the last 11 years. He performed here in 2013, 2014 and 2019.

He married the president’s eldest daughter, June Ruto in a colourful wedding in 2021. According to Nairobi News, Ezenagu, together with a group of deep-pocketed friends are funding the return of Davido to Kenya after six years. Further, among the few sponsors supporting the event are Martell, with Davido serving as an ambassador, Radio Africa Group, connected to Ezenagu’s network, and Zuri Health, affiliated with Ike Anoke, also known as Taurus Music CEO.Additionally, Vanguard, a prestigious restaurant located in Westlands which Ezenagu owns is also sponsoring Raha Fest. Although it seems usual with the expected Davido concert in Kenya and Uganda, it calls for a massive investment. His soaring global recognition has seen Davido increase his performance fee three-fold to $600,000 for one show.
In contrast, he charged a little less than $200,000 for a single show five years ago. He told American jewellery company Icebox in a YouTube interview in 2023 that many promoters cannot afford his asking price. He has fewer shows but they are all worth it.
