Lodges around Lake Elementaita in Kenya’s Rift Valley are something to marvel about; the positioning, architecture and finishing touch are exquisite.

These are the top lodges around Lake Elementaita.

Sunbird Lodge is a modern, African-styled 55-acre lodge overlooking Lake Elementaita. The lodge has 14 cottages and two suites on the hillside. The cottages are spacious and family-friendly. Each cottage has a private verandah. They are picturesque as they overlook the lake. For the disabled, they are accommodated at the cottages’ low ground with ramps and other features that look after their interest. The lower cottages are ideal for introverts because they are quiet and private.

The hillside suites feature a sitting area, fireplace, verandah and a whirlpool. The lighting is strikingly beautiful with rays from the lake and an epic reality for bird watching.

If you are looking for a truly authentic camping experience, a stay at the Lake Elementaita Serena Camp adjacent to Soysambu Conservancy is the real deal. The camp has 24 classic tents beautifully furnished with wood. The designing of the furnishing is, by and large, a colonial representation of a safari in Kenya.

The guest tents are set on lawns dotted by trees and well-arranged stone paths. The tents have a sitting area, writing desk, chair and a quiet verandah decorated with wooden furniture. Of the 24 guest tents, the flamingo suite crowns it all with a jacuzzi and a lounge.

At the heart of Soysambu Conservancy is the eco-friendly Sleeping Warrior Lodge which spreads to Mawe Mbili Hill (English for Two Stones). Sleeping Warrior has a lodge and camp set on various spots within the conservancy and is uniquely traditional but still has a modern look.

Sleeping Warrior Tented Camp is housed on Leleshwa trees and sits on a rocky outcrop. The tent’s roofs are made of thatched hay with furnishing from cedar trees. Branches of Leleshwa wood which fall off the trees naturally are transported to the camp using donkey carts and are used to heat water while solar energy powers the entire camp and lodge.
