If you are looking forward to getting some new experience away from home and rejuvenating in some distant place after a period of lengthy lockdown, Sasaab Lodge in Samburu would be a perfect choice.

This stylish lodge is in the heart of Kenya’s less-visited but magical county of Samburu, the land of cultural intrigues.

The lodge which is a blend of foreign African architectural themes but authentically Kenyan sits on a rocky ridge just above the region’s respected water source; Ewaso Nyiro River flowing from the highlands of the Aberdares in Central Kenya.

Sasaab Lodge Samburu

Your arrival to Samburu takes you nowhere else other than Sasaab which has stamped its dominance in this part of the country.

It prides on being the only high-end lodge in the region mainly inhabited by the Samburu people who are pastoralists. Just the mention of Samburu people should already ring a “safari” bell in your mind!

Sasaab Lodge Architecture

In an African bush, Sasaab boasts of world-class experiences coupled with a stunning blend of Moroccan and Swahili architecture styles.

However, as an authentic Kenyan lodge, it has eight cozy cottages with a capacity of 18 guests. Each cottage majestically charms you to have a look at the plains of Samburu, herds of cattle grazing in the thickets.

Amazingly though, the cottage gives an impressive cooling effect from the Moroccan architecture the cottage has been built on despite this being a relatively arid area with little or no rainfall throughout the year.

Four, neatly spread and good-looking poster beds welcome you to the cottages which also feature a large, open-air bathroom, personal plunge pools to completely make your stay as comfortable as you would want. A walk to the main swimming – you get an idyllic view of the rolling hills overlooking Ewaso Nyiro River. Never short sunning sceneries, you enjoy the views of Laikipia Plateau before drifting to the beauty of Mount Kenya’s peak.

One thing never to forget is that Sasaab nature’s diversity is unrivaled. There is an array of wildlife around Sasaab, the big five topping the list.

Samburu Wildlife

Elephants, lions, leopards cheetahs, and the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich call this place home.

Besides the abundance of wildlife that can be spotted from the comfort of the lodge, Sasaab’s spa is just one place where you can never have enough good relaxation time.

The spa has tapped into using a special blend of assorted Kenyan herbal ingredients to better this experience which extends to in-room massages.

To fully explore the wonderful Samburu, Sasaab lodge offers daily game drives, walking safaris along Ewaso Nyiro River and in the grasslands, and the most enjoyable safari to Samburu National Park.

Cultural excursions around the vicinity of the lode and mountain biking all top your to-do list while at this exclusive lodge.
