Enjoying the best of Uganda in its amazing beaches


Although Uganda is infamously known as East Africa’s landlocked country, Entebbe has over the years become the country’s gem due to its stunning beaches courtesy of Lake Victoria.

The pristine beaches, beautiful sights of the sun rising and sunsets await you at the various beaches dotting Entebbe not to mention the impressive bird views in this place.

 Lido Beach

Lido Beach is Uganda’s oldest beach. Located just 1 km away from Entebbe International Airport, it is considered a top outdoor party spot with weekends having a lot of visitors either enjoying the white sandy beach or attending an event held at the beach. The activities of the beach – excluding swimming due to the risk of contracting bilharzia – are family-oriented.

 Lutembe Beach

Birding enthusiasts call Lutamba Beach in Wakiso District a haven. Lutembe Beach which borders Lutembe wetlands, a leading bird sanctuary with the largest population of white-winged terns has idyllic views of vibrant and diverse birdlife. Usually, photographers drawn from different parts of the wild converge here.

Besides the beautiful scenery for photography, camping and boat riding make your day and night complete while here.

 Imperial Beach

Is there a greater feeling while at the beach than sunbathing and water sports for the adrenaline-driven people? Well, the Imperial Beach in the South Western part of Uganda’s capital, Kampala treats you to a different beach vibe. The presence of Imperial Resort Beach and Imperial Botanical Beach gives this place a unique experience which you would love to try out. The botanical beach is lined up with exotic trees and rare birds which visitors are thrilled by.

One Love Beach


One love Beach has is synonymous with a ‘One Love” mantra in Jamaica famed for the composition of good reggae songs and in Uganda, it oozes a unique vibe. Owned by Uganda pop star turned politician, Bobi Wine, One Love Beach in Busabala is not your average beach; it is engaging by every means.

Beach volleyball is a phenomenon, long beach walks, sunbathing and different types of food are available as well as drinks – alcoholic and non-alcoholic – are available too.

Munyonyo Beach

Munyonyo is not only famous but a popular destination for tourists visiting Uganda due to the presence of the martyr’s shrine and a necklace of five-star hotels in this posh neighbourhood. But Munyonyo Beach has made it even more popular. There are speedboat and canoe rides as well as tours of Bullago and Chimp Islands which are a short distance from the beach.

Horse riding, fishing, paintballing keep you on the run while at the beach.

 Ssese Island

The Island doubles up as a “park” due to the exotic bird experience here as well as monkeys on the beach. Hippos and crocodiles, too, make spontaneous appearances at the beach located north-west of Lake Victoria. Biking and boat riding keeps lets you enjoy the island better
