According to KTB, international tourist arrivals in Kenya rose by 40.8 per cent to 663,036 in the first 10 months of 2021 compared to 470,971 in the same time in 2020.
KTB said that the United States market had the most tourists with 108,072 visitors accounting for 16.3 per cent of total arrivals. Uganda was second with 59,979 (9.0 per cent), and Tanzania was third with 58,946 visitors (8.9 per cent).
The UK market ranked fourth, followed by India and China, according to KTB’s report. The Radier led board said the tourism industry is also working on ensuring that employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In an effort to encourage intra-regional travel, the East African Community (EAC) launched the EAC Regional and Domestic Tourist Media Campaign. This is in a bid to promote East Africa travel and Kenya safaris by extension.
The pandemic-related marketing campaign dubbed “Tembea Nyumbani,” is aimed at encouraging East Africans to visit their own countries and other countries in the region.
The campaign ran from December 1, 2021, to December 15, 2021. The EAC Tourism Marketing Strategy and the EAC Recovery Plan are being implemented with the help of the German Development Agency, GIZ.
The campaign intends to promote partner states’ tourism in the next three months. It is a part of a larger effort to promote regional and domestic tourism in the region.
Tourism arrivals in East Africa dropped by roughly 67%, from 6.98 million in 2019 to an expected 2.25 million in 2020, because of the COVID-19 epidemic, which hit the economy badly.
