Ghana’s craft beer culture is quickly gaining traction as several microbreweries producing sorghum-based lager continue to grow due to high demand in the local market.

Driven by the fact that a good number of Ghanaians earn below the middle-income mark, the need to quench their thirst with quality but cheap beer cannot be underscored. In the craft beer culture, sorghum, maize, millet and cassava are the main ingredients in Ghana’s microbreweries.

Container Pub 

Container Pub on Oxford street in Osu district is Accra’s eye candy where locals and expats meet for a cold beer anytime. The pub is strategically placed on Oxford street in an open-air space. The container pub plays great music making it made a popular joint.

 

Davis pito joint

Pito joint is a family establishment managed by the Davis’ and is set up on Tema suburbs with the largest market in Accra. Pito is popular for its cold and warm toose which is prepared from millet, sorghum or guinea corn. It is usually served in calabashes and is appealing to middle-income earners.
