Rwanda is 2020’s top destination in Africa, a recent report indicates.

It was also ranked among the top 30 emerging destinations globally in the annual awards published by travellemming.com which celebrates and promotes emerging destinations globally.

One of the judges in the awards and a travel blogger, Maroc Mama offers that the deep cultural heritage in Rwanda overrides the popular Gorilla trekking sprees putting the country as a leading destination in Africa.

“Rwanda is at the top of my list to visit in Africa to experience its cultural mix and beautiful natural surrounds. While most people go to see the gorillas, there are lots of other cultural heritage sites and experiences to be had.”

Rwanda’s Chief Tourism Officer of the Rwanda Development Board, Belise Kariza maintains the country’s natural beauty and wildlife are a gem.

If you haven’t visited Rwanda yet, we welcome you to experience the country’s natural beauty, culture and wildlife. Rwanda is truly one of the world’s most remarkable luxury ecotourism destinations,” she opines.

Amarachi Ekekwe, a travel blogger and one of the 30 judges selected after voting noted that conservation effort of national parks in Kigali are pooling in more tourists to Rwanda.

“This East African pearl is changing the African travel narrative in so many ways. It will be exciting to visit Kigali to see its amazing transformation and to see the conservation efforts at its national parks,” she adds.

With direct flights from Kigali to JFK Airport in New York set to be launched soon, more foreign travellers are expected to visit Rwanda.
