‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ author Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan visit was an eye-opener for African countries that still allow game hunting. He arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on May 21, his first-ever visit in 20 years.

Kiyosaki isn’t a new guest to Africa – except Kenya. He has visited different African countries for the last two decades. The novelist visits a destination of choice each year, a tradition he started when he was 57.

Are There Highlights of Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan Visit?

Kiyosaki kicked off his Kenyan visit with a book signing event at Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi. His fans had a one-on-one engagement with him at the prestigious five-star hotel. He then embarked on a memorable Kenyan safari which he talked about profoundly.

Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan visit had wildlife conservation as the biggest highlight. As an avid game hunter, he never had any interest in visiting Kenya due to its legislative policies on trophy hunting.

“I am in Nairobi, Kenya.  I have never been here before, although I have been coming to Africa about once a year for about 20 years. The reason I never came to Kenya is because they outlawed hunting in the 1960s and I am a hunter,” he posted on his X account.

This East African country banned wildlife hunting as soon as it attained independence in 1963 from the British. The intent behind this law was to conserve wildlife and also safeguard a majority of wild animals from extinction. Now, the 77-year-old famed American author admits that the Kenyan government made a good call – but wouldn’t see it until recently.  In retrospect, his wife Kim Kiyosaki is a wildlife protection ambassador.

“I am glad I am in Kenya today because I now understand how smart their leaders were, banning people like me….a hunter. Kenya is perfect for animal lovers like my wife Kim who protects and loves all animals. The world is big enough to grant people with opposing points of view, their own point of view. I commend Kenya for taking a stand for Africa and to protect the animals,” he added.

Which African Country is Best for Game Hunting?

While Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan visit shed a new light to banning wildlife hunting in East Africa, Southern Africa has a tall tale to tell. Currently, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana are big grounds for game hunting. South Africa has varied landscapes with a variety of wild animals, including the “Big Five” (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino).

South Africa’s infrastructure and abundance of plains wildlife make it an excellent destination for novice hunters. Usually, safari hunting goes on in the peak months between May and September and is highly regulated. The law doesn’t allow the hunting of lions.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, offers reasonable fees for hunting licences – and you can shoot down a lion unlike in South Africa. Botswana practises a quota hunting system since 2019. Before this, the government banned game hunting in 2014 as a measure to control a sharp decrease in wildlife populations. It then reversed this rule in 2019 but with new modalities under the quota system.

Namibia, Mozambique, and Zambia, also allow people to hunt wildlife and Kiyosaki may have visited them for a safari hunt escapade. Other countries that attract safari hunters include Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Cameroon, DR Congo, Morocco and Liberia. Hopefully, Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan visit will send a message to them in regard to wildlife conservation.

Who is Kiyosaki’s Wife?

Robert is married to Kim Kiyosaki, an entrepreneur and author too.  They met in Honolulu, Hawaii where they both grew up. Kim worked for a popular business magazine and she forged forces with Robert to establish the Rich Dad Company which they both run. However, they started different businesses before ‘Rich Dad’ with the view of imparting financial literacy to people.

Kim is a pronounced wildlife protector whose influence likely changed her husband’s outlook on trophy hunting. The couple is private about their life beyond the business face that they studiously maintain in public.

What Was Robert Kiyosaki’s Famous Quote?

“The rich don’t work for money; they make money work for them,” is one of his many famous quotes. It’s from his most famous literary work ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ where he shares life lessons about money from his father and his friend. He advocates for financial literacy and building wealth through assets that generate income.

Another of his famous quotes is “financial struggle is often the result of people working all their lives for someone else.” Ideally, his philosophy is that a career in the corporate world might not be the greatest way to get rich. He places a strong emphasis on developing assets that produce revenue.

Conclusion

Beyond the financial lessons, Robert Kiyosaki Kenyan visit highlighted a crucial subject about wildlife conservation. With his global influence, his global outlook on ending wildlife hunting could gain traction in the foreseeable future.
