The most recent report of the Global Peace Index is now available with the most peaceful African countries 2022.

It would appear that the seven East African Member States will not be in a rush to write home about their most recent indexing. But then, neither will the United States of America.

Rwanda, currently ranked at number 72 on the continent, appears to be the most peaceful country in East Africa. Tanzania is currently ranked number 86 on the Global Peace Index.

On the GPI, Kenya is ranked at position number 120, and Uganda occupies the 121st spot. Moreover, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania appear to have a lower violent crime rate than the United States of America.

The Global Peace Index is a report that was compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). Its purpose is to measure the relative position of different countries and areas in terms of how peaceful they are.

The Global Peace Index assigns a level of peacefulness to each of the world’s 163 sovereign governments and territories. They account for 99.7 percent of the world’s total population.

Since the 21st century, the Worldwide Peace Index points to tendencies toward rising global violence and decreased global peacefulness.
