The 10th edition of the scintillating Smoking Dragon Festival in the Drakensberg, South Africa is beckoning.

The three-day annual music festival kicks off on December 29 and ends on December 31, ushering the New Year in style, pomp and colour in what is an amazing South African-branded festival held in the Northern Drakensberg Mountain Amphitheater surrounded by ranges at the border of Lesotho and South Africa.

This part of the Drakensberg is famed for its fascinating hiking destinations and the necklace of wonders including one of the largest indigenous forests in the continent-the Berg, cave paintings among others.

The Smoking Dragon Festival was founded in 2009. The festival celebrates and promotes athletes and artists from the region in various projects that they initiate.

The festival has five stages with the Electro Jungle being one of the most real with point-on musical performances and art exhibitions.

Across the 350 hectares where it goes down, a line of camping tents dots a section of this majestic landscape. Then there is the general camping area, a few minutes away from the festival’s main stage.
