Oral tradition plays a significant role in preserving the language, with storytelling, songs, and proverbs passed down from one generation to the next. Efforts to promote and preserve Kichagga continue through educational initiatives and cultural programs within the Chagga community. Traditionally, Chagga society was divided into numerous independent chiefdoms, each with its own territory and customs.
