GRAPHIC VIDEO ALERT! A hyena eating a wildebeest alive at Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.
The character of the hyena as a coward is untrue. They are vigorous competitors, not only scavenging but on hunting too but they do not suffocate their prey, unlike the lions, cheetahs and leopards
About 95% of their catch comes from their kills, which take place in packs of up to 80 hyenae. The hyena laughs to signal excitement that it has found food. The pitch of their laugh can indicate their status in the pack!
