Looking for an exciting road trip cruising in three African countries in a week? Well, here is a plan road trip from Kazungula in northern Botswana Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia where borders meet.
At Kazungula, waters from Zambezi and Chobe Rivers flow into one border and the road trip begins at Caprivi Strip, a region between Namibia and Botswana separated by a 500km-long strip of land which is home to Zambezi River. At Katima Mulilo in Caprivi, you will enjoy game viewing at Caprivi National Park and fishing expedition in the Zambezi River and also see hippos and crocodiles in the upper part of the river.
The evening takes you to Zambezi Mubala Lodge where there are luxurious and spacious cabins afloat water from Zambezi River. There are, however, camps available for those on a tight budget. From Zambezi region, you cross into Botswana at Ngoma border post and drive through Chobe National Park – home to the best of wildlife in Southern Africa.
It is one of the parks in Africa with the highest number of mammals which roam freely into the adjacent town of Kasane. Kasane is cultural in nature and locals lean more on traditional food that is locally produced in their farmsThen there are the mopane worms which are packages as snacks. They are dried and packed or even cooked alongside tomatoes. A row down Chobe River as you watch wild animals take a swim is the perfect sundowner. You can book a night at Chobe Safari Lodges, the oldest establishment in Kasane town.
From Kasane, head to Zimbabwe. You are welcomed by one of the wonders of the world-Mosi-oa-Tunya loosely translating to “The Smoke That Thunders” in Victoria Falls.
The falls are 1.7 km wide. Test your courage at the devil’s pool – a 100 m drop from the falls You can visit the Victoria Falls National Park which is dense rainforest and thereafter, grab a bite in one of the cafes. At sunset, book your stay at Victoria Falls SafariLodge which overlooks the park. The evening sets in style as you watch wild animals at the watering hole. The most memorable moment of the inter-country road trip is the spectacular view of vultures feasting in Victoria Falls.
