Four years after the inception of the Kigali Jazz Junction, the Rwandan music scene has grown in leaps and bounds.

The monthly musical affair is held in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, attracting renowned names in the entertainment industry across Africa. Revered Zimbabwean jazz artiste the late Oliver Mtukudzi, Burundian sensational singer Kidum, Uganda’s Bebe Cool among others are common figures to have graced the monthly musical concert.

Besides locals, Kigali Jazz Junction has charmed players in Rwanda’s corporate sector and the diplomatic community who grace the event now held at the Kigali Exhibition and Conference Village.

Remmy Lubega is the Junction’s brainchild and he attributes its growth to good planning and organisation. In an interview with The New Times in 2018, Lubega said Kigali Jazz Junction started with a turn-up of 20 people and free entrances but it has now grown into a fete, that many artistes from and beyond Rwanda want to be associated with.

The Kigali Jazz Junction has greatly contributed to the bolstering of Rwanda’s economy over the years.
