Nigerian musical giant Burna Boy Kenya concert 2025 was a perfect apology to Kenyan fans following his underwhelming performance in 2019. He was the main artist at the NRG Wave Festival but showed up so late and performed for less than 45 minutes. It was such an insolence to his fans who paid exorbitantly for the concert tickets. Five years later, Nairobi gave the Afrobeat superstar a chance to make amends.

Uhuru Gardens hosted Burna Boy’s concert on the night of March 1. The gardens carry lots of historical importance for Kenya. This is the place where the Kenyan flag was first hoisted after attaining independence in 1963. ‘Uhuru’ is a Swahili word translating to freedom. The gardens were refurbished during the reign of retired Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

His father, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta is Kenya’s founding father. He stood happily at Uhuru Gardens in 1963 to see the Kenyan flag being raised; a symbol of freedom after years of struggle to break from British colonial rule.

Aware of the bitter memories from 2019, the 33-year-old was more than ready to soothe his fans, make amends and entertain them to the end. In his usual stage style shirtless and rocking flare pants, the On The Low hitmaker delivered hit after hit with a lot of gusto.

Moments after Last Last beats, the crowd went on a musical rampage going all the way with the lyrics. This awed Burna Boy so much that he couldn’t hide it. The love in Nairobi was overwhelming for him. He had no choice other than performing song after song with electrifying on-stage dance. His performance justified USD 988,000 (Ksh126.5 million) Burna Boy Kenya concert 2025.

“Thank you for an amazing show, it was worth flying to Nairobi,” Guy Juan’O posted on X after the MadFun Group-organized concert.

“254 Concerts are on a new level if this is the standard! Setup, Sound, the experience..is worth all the monies they charged me,” Evans Bett stated.

Dennis Milimo noted: “Fire Man Burna!! Burna Boy delivered a Fire Set at #MadfunXperience pale Uhuru Gardens.”

Has Burna Boy Performed in Kenya?

The Naija Afrobeats star has performed in Kenya twice, in 2019 and 2025. However, his debut concert in Kenya which he charged USD 38000 (Ksh5 million) left his fans disappointed. He turned up late at Mombasa Village for the NRG Wave concert and only performed for 45 minutes. Angry fans voiced their disappointment with the Nigerian artist who was at the time working on his fifth album, Twice As Tall.  It later won him a Grammy Award in 2021, but this did not erase his fans’ disappointment.

To make matters worse, he did not apologise for his lateness or short performance time. This resulted in him being in Kenyans’ ‘bad books,’ but five years later, he made it up to them like the international superstar performer he is. He flew in with his entourage made up of 61 people. They included band members, sound engineers, and dancers among others.
