Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni sacked the country's top army commander, General Katumba Wamala, on Wednesday.
Wamala was sacked following a deadly attack on his daughter and bodyguard on Tuesday.
The attack, which took place in Kampala, left Wamala's daughter dead and his bodyguard seriously injured.
Museveni has blamed the attack on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group that is active in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The ADF is a militant Islamist group that has been fighting the Ugandan government for over 20 years.
The group is believed to be responsible for a number of attacks in Uganda, including the 2010 Kampala bombings, which killed over 70 people.
Museveni has vowed to crush the ADF and has deployed troops to eastern DRC to fight the group.
The sacking of Wamala is a major shake-up of the Ugandan military.
Wamala was a close ally of Museveni and his sacking is likely to raise questions about the stability of the Ugandan government.
