Near Nairobi National Park, the Elephant Orphanage is situated around 10 kilometres from Nairobi's downtown.
It is exclusively accessible to the general public from 11:00 to 12:00 every day.
Elephant calves and other species are rehabilitated by the David Sheldrick Conservation Foundation.
You have the opportunity to go up close to elephant calves, so it is well worth a visit!
The handlers bring the elephants outside, feed them, and teach you about the many elephant species.
You can enjoy refreshments at the café at the Giraffe Sanctuary while observing the giraffes.
There is a nominal entrance fee and a shop where you can buy a memento or donate to the conservation of future elephants.
