When is the best time to visit Namibia? You may ask. Well, the answer lies in which region of the country you wish to visit. Seasons vary from one region to another, therefore, Namibia is one of those countries in Southern Africa where you can visit throughout the year.

In January and February, there is heavy rainfall on the northern side – Oshana, Zambezi, Kavango East and Kavango West  – but it also gives a good view of the greenery in the region.  Things are, however, different on the southern side as the heat could become unbearable.

March is the month for local parties as the sun shines bright with periodic rainfall. It is often the month when many people set out for road trips to the forest and Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa with a ravine. April welcomes a cold, humid and cloudy weather. The Namibia Annual Music Award entertains visitors in its caravan from one town to another towards the end of April.

May is the month of public holidays and most people occasionally engage in outdoor activities due to the chilly weather. June gets pretty cold especially in Namibia’s capital Windhoek, but it is an opportune moment for a game safari. During the day temperatures are still pleasant and animals appear at watering holes to sunbath.  Accommodation prices go down in July due to the extremely cold weather which is refreshing.

In August, the desert gets very cold and windy in the central region. However, it is a good month to visit the museum. Game viewing ushers September as temperatures rise and Namibia’s warmth crowns major parts of the country. In October, most people prefer to go wind sailing at the Dolphin and Catamaran Cruise from Walvis Bay. November has unpredictable weather, with rains and thunderstorm pounding when you least expect. Nevertheless, the climate is good for indoor activities.

Finally, December comes along with the thrill of travelling to different places in the country as temperatures are usually high. Being the festive season there are a lot of activities such as desert safaris, game drives, beach vacay.
