Kruger is a birding paradise.

Due to its subtropical and tropical bird ranges, Kruger's north is one of the best birding places in the subcontinent.

The rich and uncommon birdlife in its many habitats makes it Kruger's birding crown jewel.

However, it's far from anywhere and can get very hot in summer.

The far north is mostly sandveld with sandy, well-drained soils and magnificent sandstone koppies.

Crooks' Corner is where the Limpopo and Luvuvhu meet.

No single plant species dominates the sandveld. Baobabs, Lala-palms, and Fever trees dominate.

The Banyani floodplain outside Kruger near Pafuri Gate affects birdlife.
